How can we help?

Find answers to common questions about trackaroo® features, technical specs, and capabilities.

trackaroo® is an offline-first adventure safety and decision-support app designed for remote and low-signal environments. It includes 7 subsystems: SOS Emergency Beacon, BackTrack™ Retrace, HazTrack™ Hazard Overlays, TrackMate™ Group Mesh, TrackIQ™ Difficulty Scoring, Offline Navigation, and First Aid Reference.

Yes. trackaroo® is offline-first by design. All core safety features — SOS Beacon, BackTrack™, GPS tracking, offline maps, and First Aid — work with zero internet connectivity. Some features like HazTrack™ require periodic sync for latest data.

The companion app is compatible with iOS 15.0+ and Android 10.0+. TrackMate™ mesh features require Bluetooth LE and optionally a LoRa-compatible device for extended range.

In two taps or fewer from any screen, you can activate a distress signal that logs your precise GPS coordinates locally on your device. The SOS beacon works completely offline — no cell signal required. trackaroo® does not dispatch emergency services or notify anyone externally. It is a local safety log designed to support your own decision-making.

BackTrack™ automatically records GPS breadcrumbs as you travel. When you need to return, it shows your exact path back — perfect for when visibility drops or you lose your way. Runs entirely on-device with minimal battery impact.

TrackMate™ uses Bluetooth LE for close range (up to 100m) and optionally LoRa radio for extended range (up to 5km line-of-sight). Groups support up to 8 active members. Messages are queued locally when peers are out of range and delivered on reconnection.

Map storage depends on the area and detail level. A typical region download (e.g., a national park) is 50—200MB. Full state-level topo maps range from 500MB to 2GB. You choose what to download before your trip.

All data at rest is encrypted with AES-256. Mesh communications use end-to-end encryption. Your location data never leaves your device unless you explicitly share it or trigger an SOS.

No. Your location data is processed and stored entirely on-device. We never upload your GPS history to our servers. The only exception is an explicit SOS distress signal, which you must manually trigger.

Yes. All data including trip history, breadcrumbs, and cached maps can be deleted from within the app at any time. We follow Australian Privacy Principles and GDPR-equivalent standards.
